Initial Custody Orders

The Court has the broadest discretion when establishing initial custody and visitation orders; and changing initial custody and visitation orders after a final Judgment can be difficult to the imposition of an additional legal standard.

Post-Judgment Modification

Generally, but not always, a party seeking a modification of a custody and visitation order after Judgment has been entered must demonstrate a "significant change of circumstances" from the time Judgment entered to the time of filing a motion seeking a change to those orders. This is considered by family law practitioners to be one of the more demanding standards in the world of family law.
